Wedding Arch

My son and daughter-in-law were married in a unique venue in Detroit Michigan...a distillery.

The wanted an arch created that would frame them during their vows that was in keeping with their venue.

Their request was for an octagonal "arch" to be used as a backdrop.

A unique challenge was how to make the unit that was approximately 8-feet in diameter that would be transportable and easily movable to and from their venue.

The answer was to create a collapsible arch that was both strong and could easily be broken down.

The arch is created by laminating strips of quartersawn white oak and building it in 4 interlocking sections and inserted into a solid/heavy base. The result was an arch that was a solid, free-standing unit that flowers and lights could be attached without worry of toppling.
